Swiss marketer of pre-owned software usedSoft applies for the institution of insolvency proceedings

usedSoft, marketer of pre-owned Software, announced bankruptcy of usedSoft AG, located in Switzerland.

Concerning the newspaper and magazine publisher Heise Online usedSoft AG already applied for the institution of insolvency proceedings in May.

At last usedSoft attracted interest by two contrary convictions in connection with the distribution of pre-owned software of the manufacturer Adobe. In Germany usedSoft lost the case and even was sentenced to damage compensation. In contrast in Switzerland the company won the case. Now usedSoft AG has to publish their bankruptcy.

The background information of this announcement seems to be not very clear. The reason for insolvency is not supposed to be a judicial conflict of software licenses, but unrecoverable differences with an investor of the company.

In addition to the external office also the German office is not supposed to have any liquidity problems. Sale of pre-owned software would be continued, as before, though there would be new structures internally regarding acquisition of pre-owned software licenses.
