Computerwoche: „Microsoft Attacks Pre-Owned Software“

The customer is always right? As if! In legal disputes, in which pre-owned software is discussed, customers’ interests are hardly brought up. That is what Boris Vöge, executive of the preo Software AG, criticizes, too.

He wants to see the needs of the customers as the central point of all actions. Computerwoche reports, that Microsoft takes a judgement of the court of appeals in Munich, which forbids a trader of pre-owned software the trade with software that is distributed online, and uses it for its own Microsoft products.

Microsoft is of the opinion that the distribution of pre-owned software generally requires the acceptance of the respective holder of the right. That is criticized vehemently by the traders of pre-owned software. Obviously not without cause: Computerwoche reports that there are documents of Oracle representatives which point explicitly to the fact that the own case is different than the trade with Microsoft licenses.

For uncertain people, Computerwoche suggests the preo Software AG, that offers a high security level with clearly structured transfer processes that are certified according to ISO. First priority: the transparency at the license transfers. The transfer that is in accordance with the transfer processes of the vendors guarantees a high security level.
