Many companies, public authorities and institutes view their software as an asset value that can be reselled. „Selling unused licences brings money into the fund, using pre-owned licences instead of new ones in up to 50 percent cheaper“, explains Boris Vöge, executive of the preo Software AG. To his opinion, the statements of the software vendors, who say that the trade is possibly not legal, are only attempts at intimidation. „Competent counselors know the current jurisdiction, are able to identify transparent transfer processes and to put them into practice in cooperation with their trusted traders of pre-owned software“, says Vöge.
